Resume

Experience & impact

Seven years of turning complicated, often heavy human rights work into things people actually engage with — stories that get covered, campaigns that get funded, brands people remember. If there’s a thread, it’s this: I’ve never been satisfied just understanding something. I want other people to care about it too.

Where I’ve worked

Aug 2025 – Present · Binghamton, NY

Research Fellow

Institute for Genocide & Mass Atrocity Prevention (IGMAP)

The pivot I’d been building toward: bringing a communicator’s instincts to atrocity-prevention scholarship, and refusing to treat rigor and accessibility as a trade-off.

  • Conduct research on transitional justice, historical memory, and the early-warning indicators that precede mass atrocity.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data from case studies and policy documents to support evidence-based prevention.
  • Present scholarship at graduate symposia, including William & Mary and Binghamton’s SPEL series.
Mar 2023 – Aug 2025 · Washington, DC

Media & Events Specialist

Freedom House

The job where I learned how to make rigorous, uncomfortable research land squarely in the news cycle.

  • Grew media citations by 60% through proactive pitching, rapid response, and real relationships with journalists.
  • Drafted and placed press releases, statements, op-eds, and talking points across national and international outlets.
  • Produced events from intimate press briefings to large convenings — owning logistics, messaging, and speaker prep.
  • Drafted speeches, memos & op-eds for executive leadership; mentored 2–3 interns annually.
Aug 2024 – May 2025 · Washington, DC

Communications Consultant

International Center for Religion & Diplomacy (ICRD)

Called back to rebuild the voice I’d helped shape — this time from the strategy side.

  • Worked with senior leadership and the board to rebuild the communication strategy and strengthen brand identity.
  • Led strategic communications and development, securing $30,000 in funding within six months.
  • Oversaw the communications internship program — recruiting, training, and mentorship.

Communications Manager (full-time) · Aug 2022 – Mar 2023

  • Drove organization-wide branding renewal across visual identity, copy, and executive messaging.
  • Executed a multi-channel communication strategy, leading to an 80% increase in engagement.
  • Managed international and domestic event production with 200+ attendees.
May 2022 – Aug 2022 · Bethesda, MD

Communications Intern

Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce

  • Reorganized audience data-management processes; provided insights for quarterly reports and board meetings.
  • Drafted targeted email campaigns, driving a 40% increase in open and click-through rates.
Jun 2021 – Aug 2021 · Washington, DC

Grant Manager

Davis Projects for Peace · RAICES

A $10,000 idea that became real help for real families.

  • Awarded a $10,000 Davis Projects for Peace grant to establish a sustainable peace project.
  • Created and managed a financial-assistance fund serving 25+ migrant families with RAICES Texas.
Nov 2019 – Sep 2020 · Washington, DC

Program Coordinator

Frank Karel Fellowship

  • Transitioned the program to a virtual format while ensuring Fellows received daily mentorship.
  • Designed recruitment materials and managed applications — a 70% increase in submissions.
  • Authored the final program report that secured a ten-year grant renewal.
